Best Time of Year for Umrah: Weather, Crowds and Prices

Saif Travels · 2026-10-28

Umrah can be performed all year round, but the experience changes a lot with the season.

Winter (November – February)

The most comfortable weather in Makkah and Madinah, with warm days and cool nights. Madinah and Taif can be quite cold at night. Popular with families, so book transport and hotels early around school holidays.

Spring (March – April)

Pleasant temperatures that rise towards April. Taif's roses are in bloom — a good time for a Taif day trip.

Summer (May – September)

Very hot, often above 40°C. Crowds can be lower and hotels cheaper outside the Hajj period. Do Ziyarat early in the morning and travel between cities in an air-conditioned car.

Ramadan

Umrah in Ramadan carries great reward, so it is the busiest time of year — especially the last ten nights. Hotels and transport sell out; book months ahead and expect road closures around the Haram.

Around Hajj

Umrah arrangements for international visitors change around the Hajj season. Check the current rules with your travel agent before booking.
