Between your prayers in Masjid al-Haram, a Ziyarat tour lets you see the places connected to the life of the Prophet ﷺ and the rites of Hajj. A typical tour takes 3–4 hours by car; going early in the morning avoids the heat.
Places on a Makkah Ziyarat tour
- Jabal al-Nour and Cave Hira — where the first revelation came to the Prophet ﷺ. The climb takes about an hour each way; many visitors see it from the base.
- Jabal Thawr — the mountain whose cave sheltered the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr (RA) during the Hijrah.
- Mina — the valley of tents where pilgrims stay during Hajj, and the Jamarat.
- Arafat and Jabal al-Rahmah — the plain where pilgrims stand on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the heart of Hajj.
- Muzdalifah — where pilgrims spend the night after Arafat.
- Masjid Aisha (Tan'eem) — the nearest point outside the Haram boundary, where many pilgrims staying in Makkah enter ihram for another Umrah.
- Masjid al-Jiranah — another Miqat point for those in Makkah.
- Jannat al-Mualla — the historic cemetery where Khadijah (RA) is buried.
Tips
- Wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
- Plan Masjid Aisha last if you want to enter ihram for another Umrah and return directly to the Haram.
- A private car lets you choose the order, how long you stay and when to stop for prayer.
