Madinah is full of places tied to the early history of Islam. A Ziyarat tour by car takes around 3 hours and is best done in the morning.
Places to visit
- Masjid Quba — the first mosque built in Islam. The Prophet ﷺ said that praying in Masjid Quba carries the reward of an Umrah. Many pilgrims make wudu at the hotel and pray two rak'ahs here.
- Masjid al-Qiblatain — where the qiblah was changed from Jerusalem to Makkah.
- Mount Uhud — site of the Battle of Uhud and the graves of the martyrs, including Hamzah (RA).
- The Seven Mosques — near the site of the Battle of the Trench (Khandaq).
- Masjid al-Jumuah — where the first Friday prayer was held.
- Jannat al-Baqi — the cemetery beside Masjid an-Nabawi where many Companions are buried.
- Miqat Dhul Hulaifah — the Miqat for pilgrims travelling from Madinah to Makkah.
- Date farms — taste and buy Ajwa and other Madinah dates.
Combine Ziyarat with your journey
If you are travelling from Madinah to Makkah, you can visit some sites, then stop at Dhul Hulaifah to enter ihram before continuing. Ask your driver to plan the route.
